Macbeth – The Visceral Beauty of Adam Arkapaw

Up-and-coming Australian cinematographer Adam Arkapaw is likely one of the most gifted yet unsung directors of photography working in the film industry today. He is known for his impressive work on Animal Kingdom, season one of True DetectiveThe Light Between Oceans and most notably all three of Justin Kurzel’s feature length films (Snowtown, Macbeth, Assassins Creed). Given Justin Kurzel’s tendency toward very sparse, unpleasant material that is often difficult to immerse oneself into, Arkapaw’s cinematography frequently becomes the most notable aspect of Kurzwel’s films as seen here in this video (edited by me, Teriek Williams), highlighting the sweeping, visceral yet beautiful work of Arkapaw on 2015’s Macbeth.
